Integrative medicine is important adjunct treatment for people who have cancer. it improves outcomes by decreasing symptoms of side effects, enhancing physical, mental and emotional wellness and improving quality of life. It works to support your own healing ability.
Cancer is not one disease, it is many diseases that affects the whole body. Treatments for cancer, such as chemotherapy and radiation, can be useful to eradicate cancer but do leave behind side effects for months and even years. Acupuncture can help to reduce:
· Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, dry mouth
· Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy
· Cancer-related pain
· Cancer -related fatigue
· Cancer-related hot flushes
· Cancer related constipation and diarrhea
· Symptoms of “Chemo Brain”
· Support for the nervous system for relaxation and sleep, to decrease anxiety and depression
Acupuncture is a treatment that stimulates your own healing ability. It is thought that treatments support the nervous system in releasing brain chemicals, such as endorphins, to help alleviate mood and decrease pain. Acupuncture stimulates blood flow, reduces inflammation and helps balance gastrointestinal function.
We also use other modalities such as ear seeds, heat lamps, gua sha, cupping, acupressure, electro- acupuncture, cold laser and craniosacral therapy.
